Avondale Arts supports volunteer efforts again this year as this festival grows! We appreciate the exploration of sounds and new discoveries across venues, inviting guest from around the globe to the East Avondale, Bricktown, and Lakeview blocks.

"Sound & Gravity is a festival brought to you by Constellation. The festival will take place across multiple venues in Chicago’s Bricktown neighborhood from September 3 to 6 and caters to adventurous, creative listeners eager to support an organization founded and run by artists. Festival and day passes are available now, granting pass holders entry to all festival shows and experiences, subject to capacity. A limited number of individual show tickets will be released closer to the festival. Join the universe and discover how far it extends."

Brands Park Advisory Council, Avondale Gardening Alliance, Avondale Arts and Second City Gaming are teaming up with community members and groups, partner organizations, artists, musicians, local businesses, local restaurants to activate this Chicago Park District gem along Elston Avenue. Our planning committee (including Avondale Arts) welcomes you to this inaugural celebration of Avondale's Heritage. Planning is underway, and it's shaping up to be a joyous celebration for all ages. We're all pretty excited to see this taking shape. Stay tuned for the schedule of events.

AGA Garden & Agricultural Fair
Oh those phenomenally fun Avondale Gardeners know how to cultivate gardens AND events! This will be our third year joining the Art Yard stop along the route with a curated outdoor gallery and artists on site to share their work in a backyard oasis. Avondale Spotlight Awards
Avondale Spotlight Awards are the first of its kind as community continues to connect and build. Organized by North Branch Works, Avondale Neighborhood Association and Second City Gaming, this inaugural spotlight award night recognizes community-nominated, community-selected gems of the Avondale community area. This will help to serve as a launching pad for the future Avondale Chamber of Commerce. Avondale Arts is thrilled to have been nominated as an "Avondale Treasure" by the community, and we will be in attendance cheering everyone on.

As we get ready to OFFICIALLY launch as a 501(c)(3) while our founding board, Advisory Council and community partners take shape, we would like to encourage emerging Artist Leadership Committee Members to get involved and help shape the planned initiatives of Avondale Arts Chicago. Spanish Language Crochet Circle 9am-11am
Avondale Arts community member, crochet artist and volunteer Claudia of Claudette's Crafts has been participating in programs, meetups and markets with us all year, and we have been brainstorming ways to start more programming en espanol. Claudia has been so patient with Nikki's horrible Spanish but we bonded over the importance of living our cultures and connecting through creative traditions with healing conversation circles. Join us once again for this well-loved literary arts hour as we hear poetry, stories, and prose from our local literary community - then stay out all night with us for live Blues! Sunday, July 26: Kilbourn Park Art and Garden Walk. Join Kilbourn Park Advisory Council and community organizers in this inaugural event! Avondale Arts will be walking alongside neighbors. Be sure to drop by Chicago Art Locker to share some of your own art with others (and maybe pick up some supplies and an art piece for your office to inspire you on a dreary day….)
Closing Reception: A Solor Exhibition by Brenda Quetzali
Friday, July 24: Avondale Arts Gallery Hours 10-5 followed by the Closing Reception 5-8pm for Petalo: Myth of Us by local artist Brenda Quetzali. If you have not yet seen these works in this solo exhibition sponsored in part by an IAP grant through DCASE, these are your last few days! Avondale Arts will be onsite all day Friday to chat more in person about the project and discuss ideas for more pop-up exhibitions down the road.

Belmont Blue Line ETOD Plan Community Open House

Avondale Arts works alongside civic departments, organizations, local businesses, and nonprofit partners to better connect community and envision collaborative projects and address concerns. Writing & Art Submissions Telling Your Stories of The Alley - Deadline 3/31/26
The Alley is turning 50 this year! We are looking for your stories, poems, prose, drawings and art for a newspaper publication as Courtney + Nikki of Avondale Arts are teaming up with Matt McCarthy of Milwaukee Avenue Messenger to commemorate this anniversary of an institution. Deadline to submit is March 31st. Please share with those who grew up over on Clark and Belmont and beyond. The newspaper will be available to launch at The Alley 50th Anniversary Block Party happening on Fletcher on June 14th. Instructions for submission here.
